What are the side effects of phosphatidylserine?
The common ones are upset stomach, gas, insomnia and headache. Less often, Cleveland Clinic lists skin rash, mood changes and low blood sugar (Cleveland Clinic, Phosphatidyl.).
In the one small trial we cite, no adverse events were linked to phosphatidylserine at 100 mg or 300 mg a day for six months (Kato-Kataoka 2010, soy PS trial). That is reassuring, but 78 people is not a large safety record.
| Effect | What to do |
|---|---|
| Upset stomach, gas | Tell your pharmacist if it lasts |
| Insomnia, headache | Note the time you took it |
| Rash, mood change | Stop and call your doctor |
| Low blood sugar | Ask first if you manage diabetes |
Does phosphatidylserine interact with medicines?
It may. Cleveland Clinic says phosphatidylserine may reduce the effect of anticholinergic drugs such as atropine (Cleveland Clinic, Phosphatidyl.).
That is one named example, not a full list. Interaction data on supplements is often thin, so the safest step is to show the bottle to a pharmacist before the first capsule.
Keep taking prescribed medicine exactly as directed. A supplement is never a substitute, and nobody should change a prescription without their doctor.

Who should ask a doctor before taking it?
Anyone who takes a prescription, is under a doctor's care or lives with a medical condition should ask first. So should anyone who is pregnant or nursing, since Cleveland Clinic says to ask a provider (Cleveland Clinic, Phosphatidyl.).

What if I have a reaction?
Stop using the product and get medical advice. FDA says to report a serious reaction through its Safety Reporting Portal (FDA, Report a Supplement Problem).
Serious reactions include an allergic reaction, bleeding or severe stomach trouble. Keep the bottle and the lot code so you can describe exactly what you took.
FAQ01
Questions people ask about MemoPryl

Yes, insomnia is on the list of reported effects. If sleep gets worse after you start a new capsule, tell your pharmacist and note when you take it. Never change prescribed medicine on your own.
Is phosphatidylserine safe while nursing?
Cleveland Clinic says people who are pregnant or breastfeeding should ask a provider first. The MemoPryl images print no warning text, so ask a doctor or pharmacist before using any capsule.
Can phosphatidylserine lower blood sugar?
